How to Send a Buyer a Tracking Link Without Building an App
The problem with informal selling
Selling through Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, or a local marketplace group is fast — but it comes with a gap the big platforms solve for you automatically: order tracking. On Etsy or Amazon, tracking is baked in. On a DM sale, the buyer usually gets a screenshot of a tracking number and has to go dig up the carrier's website themselves, then figure out which of five possible tracking pages to paste it into.
What buyers actually want
Not a spreadsheet, not a screenshot — one link they can tap that shows them what they ordered, from whom, and a direct route to check the status. That's the entire job. Anything more (accounts, apps, notifications) is friction for a one-time transaction.
The fastest way to do this today
Pick the carrier from a dropdown, paste the tracking code, add your contact link, and you get back one link and a QR code. Send either to your buyer. They open it, see the order, and tap through to the carrier's real tracking page — no account needed on either side, and the link expires on its own after three weeks so nothing lingers.
Why this beats sending a raw tracking number
A bare tracking number forces the buyer to identify the carrier themselves and find the right tracking page — easy to get wrong, especially for regional carriers with less familiar websites. A generated link already knows the carrier and goes straight to the correct page, pre-filled.
